At Sand Springs Animal Hospital, we take pride in delivering personalized, compassionate care to our patients and their guardians in Sand Springs and surrounding areas.

Our animal hospital provides many services for you and your animals, including boarding facilities, Diagnostic & Therapeutic Services, Surgical Services, Preventative Care, Anesthesia, X-Ray and Laboratory Services, and Diet Consultation. Sand Springs Animal Hospital serves dogs, cats, and small pets, including rabbits and ferrets, just like you would expect your furry family members to be cared for as if they were your own. This all starts with a warm hello for you and a yummy treat for your pet.

Dr. Hartwig and Dr. Fleming were classmates in Oklahoma State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine Class of 1998. They have remained close after graduation and have practiced together for several years. Dr. Hartwig and Dr. Fleming are dedicated to providing their clients and patients with an exceptional pet care experience.

Micah Hartwig Vet

Micah Hartwig, DVM

Dr. Micah Hartwig aspired to be a veterinarian from a very young age. Growing up in Stillwater and then in Tulsa, she was surrounded by the family cats and dogs as well as horses and cattle at her family ranch. After graduating from Cascia Hall in Tulsa, Dr. Hartwig attended Purdue University for her undergraduate work, then returned home to Oklahoma State to complete her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1998. She met her husband John at OSU, while he was completing his Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. She and her husband have two daughters, both of whom are now in college. Her hobbies include horses, tennis, and attending Oklahoma State sporting events. She can frequently be found at the McKnight Center at OSU attending performances by her daughter, a talented flutist. Dr. Hartwig’s family is completed with their two Labradors, one Chihuahua, six cats, and five horses.

After practicing in Sand Springs for several years, Dr. Hartwig opened Sand Springs Small Animal Hospital in May 2007. Dr. Hartwig’s vision was to create a veterinary hospital dedicated to expert medicine and sincere compassionate care while fostering a friendly, team atmosphere. This vision includes a healthcare team dedicated to working together with our clients to provide high-quality, sincerely compassionate care for their beloved family pets.

Kristin Fleming, DVM

Dr. Kristin Fleming loved animals from early childhood. At the age of five, she announced to her parents that she wanted to be a veterinarian. After graduating from Sapulpa High School and having come from a family of Oklahoma State University graduates, Kristin attended OSU for undergraduate studies in Animal Science. She received her Bachelor of Science and was accepted into the College of Veterinary Medicine, receiving her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1998. Dr. Fleming is also a SCUBA Instructor and she and her husband Mike enjoy diving and traveling together. She also enjoys creating Native American beadwork with her sister Melissa and spending time with her pets. Dr. Fleming loves practicing companion animal medicine, and her inherently nurturing personality sets her apart and is an asset in her goal of being part of a hospital team devoted to excellent companion animal care.

Tracy HawThorne, DVM

Dr. Tracy Hawthorne was raised in a military family and has lived all over the US and abroad but has found her forever home here in Oklahoma. She attended Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine and began her specialty training at Oklahoma State University where she met her husband Kevin. When she left for the University of Florida to finish her studies in Internal Medicine Kevin joined her and they owned Lake City Animal Hospital for 25 years. They retired back in Oklahoma as all of Kevin’s family is in the Tulsa area. She enjoys horseback riding, training dogs and watercolor painting. Dr. Hawthorne truly enjoys practicing at Sand Springs Small Animal Hospital. All the doctors work well together and the staff is dedicated to helping pets and the people who love them!
